All Time Greatest Game Villain Tournament
61
GameSpot hosted a tournament to let users decide who was the greatest all time game villain, being the first of its kind on the web. 64 characters in total battled for supremacy over the course of some time. Here were the results:
Final Four
The Joker from DC Comics vs. Kerrigan from StarCraft
Darth Vader from Star Wars vs. General RAAM from Gears of War
Wow. Tough one, you might think. I really wanted General RAAM to win the whole thing. But, unfortunately, he suffered a fatal blow, losing 34% to 66%. Kerrigan narrowly came through by winning 55% of the votes against The Joker.
The Finals
Kerrigan vs. Darth Vader
... And the winner? Kerrigan. The self-styled 'queen of blades' is a major character in StarCraft. With such a big and devoted fan-base, it's no wonder she beat the one and only Darth Vader. The rest of the votes must have come from people who thought Darth Vader was too much of a cliché. Plus, Kerrigan has an interesting story: she was human, but took on a monstrous form for some time in StarCraft II, before becoming human again. She took 60% of the votes.
Closest Battle
General RAAM vs. Shao Kahn from Mortal Combat
In the quarter finals General RAAM edged Shao Kahn, taking a 50.1% majority to advance to the semi-finals ... Mortal Combat fans were heartbroken.
Biggest Blowout
Ares from Marvel Comics vs. King Bohan from Heavenly Sword
After a 90.6% victory in the first round, Ares was swiftly taken care of by Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda. Nice, hey? You win some you lose some.
